A missing tooth leads to further tooth loss

Dental Implants are the only long term solution for missing teeth that help to prevent further tooth loss. Healthy teeth heavily rely on surrounding teeth for support. When a tooth is lost it leaves a gap that surrounding teeth may drift into over a period of time. A dental implant fills the void of the missing tooth and continues to support the surrounding teeth. While teeth are present they stimulate bone regeneration in the jaw. Normally, when a tooth is lost this regeneration stops and over a period of years the jaw shape changes and the bone begins to recede where the missing tooth is. When this happens surrounding teeth are at risk as their “foundation” is changing and gums will begin to recede.

A dental implant is directly connected to the jaw in the place of the missing tooth and it forms a bond with the jaw bone. This integration is possible because titanium has special characteristics that cause it to fuse with bone. A dental implant continues stimulation of the jaw bone preventing loss of structure.

Dental Implants are the best solution to missing teeth

Dental Implants are made up of a titanium post that is fixed into the Jaw. Titanium is one of the hardest metals available and has special characteristics that mean it has a high success rate of integration. A porcelain tooth is fixed to the top of the implant and as a whole, when looked after correctly, a dental implant can last a lifetime.

Dental Implants behave exactly the same as teeth, they are strong enough to chew tough foods and they can be made to match your existing teeth and restore your confidence in your smile. The treatment process is straightforward as a patient, it however requires your dental surgeon to have a wealth of knowledge, experience and technical ability. This is why you should be careful when considering your dentist and only go with a reputable company that can provide aftercare should you need it.
